Habitify alternative: a focused iPhone habit tracker
Habitify connects habits across platforms. miniHabits takes a narrower iPhone approach, with an iCloud account.
The short answer
miniHabits is worth considering if you want a dedicated iPhone habit tracker with streak shields. It is not an account-free replacement for Habitify. You need the iCloud account on your device to use its backup and sync.
Reasons to keep Habitify
Habitify’s official site lists iOS, Android, web, Mac and Apple Watch support. It also describes health integrations, calendar connections and automation through services such as Zapier. These are meaningful advantages if habits need to fit into a wider system. Source: Habitify.
Do not switch to miniHabits expecting those integrations. If automatic health logging or access from a work browser is a requirement, miniHabits is not a like-for-like alternative.
miniHabits today
miniHabits is a paid iPhone habit tracker for iOS 17 and later. It has four tracking modes: checkbox, counter, timer and quantity. Schedules can be daily, selected weekdays or a number of times per week. Its heatmap shows 26 weeks.
Streak shields bank on satisfied days and are spent automatically on a missed day when available. A protected day stays visible in the history; it is not recorded as a completed habit. Break mode pauses judgement for all habits without spending shields.
Your device’s iCloud account is required for backup and sync. There is no free tier or free trial. After onboarding, a purchase or restore is required to enter the tracker. The two plans are an auto-renewing yearly subscription and a one-time lifetime purchase. EUR reference prices are 25 € per year and 34,99 € lifetime. Your App Store checkout shows the local price and currency.
miniHabits does not currently offer Android, web or Apple Watch apps, widgets, Live Activities, Apple Health integration, notification reminders, or CSV/JSON import and export. Switching means recreating habits manually, not transferring an existing history.
Decide what you want to simplify
There are two different wishes here: fewer screens, and fewer accounts. miniHabits may suit the first. It does not meet the second if your requirement is no account at all.
For example, a manually logged reading habit can fit the counter or timer mode. A habit that must update from another service cannot. That distinction is more useful than claiming one app has better privacy simply because it looks simpler. Review miniHabits’ privacy policy before choosing.
Switching without losing your archive
There is no Habitify importer. Keep your existing history in Habitify and recreate only the habits you want to continue. An export from another service does not make it importable into miniHabits.
Choose miniHabits for its current tracking experience, not a promised future platform. Keep Habitify if cross-platform access and connected services are the reason your system works.
