Loop Habit Tracker alternative for iPhone
Loop is the best free tracker on Android and it has never shipped on iOS. Here is the closest thing.
Quick verdict
Loop Habit Tracker is free, open source, ad free, account free, and better designed than most paid apps in the category. It is also Android only, and after eight years of people asking, an iOS build is not coming. If you switched phones and you are trying to replace Loop, miniHabits is the nearest match in spirit: no account, offline first, a dot grid instead of a mascot.
What Loop does better
The price is zero and the licence is GPL. No tier, no cap, no telemetry, no upsell. You can read the source, build it yourself, and nobody can change the deal later. Nothing in this comparison beats that.
The strength score. Loop does not only count streaks. It computes a habit strength using an exponential moving average, so a habit you have done for two years is visibly stronger than one you started last week, and a single miss dents it rather than destroying it. That maths is the smartest thing in the category and most commercial apps never copied it.
It stays out of the way. Widgets, a clean list, a colour per habit, notifications that can be answered from the shade. No onboarding survey, no paywall sheet, no account.
If you are still on Android: keep Loop. There is no argument here. This page exists for the people who moved to an iPhone and found a hole where their tracker used to be.
Where it stops being a good fit
Only on iOS, which is the whole reason you are reading. The App Store has several apps with similar names and icons that are not Loop, are not open source, and do ask for a subscription. Check the developer name before you install anything.
Beyond the platform: Loop handles yes/no habits and numeric ones with a target, but it has no timer, no Health integration, and no way to group habits into a routine you check in one tap. Development is slow by design, which is fine for a stable tool and frustrating if you want the missing pieces.
How miniHabits handles the same job
The shape is familiar if you came from Loop: open the app, see today, tap. No sign-up screen, no feed, offline first, and the device holds the data. Cloud sync exists, it is optional, and it uses a device key rather than an email address.
What you get on top: five tracking modes rather than two, so a timer habit runs as a Live Activity on the Lock Screen, and a HealthKit habit fills itself from steps, sleep or workouts. Routines group four habits into a morning block with one tap. The statistics go past the streak into weekday bias, time of day and correlations between habits.
What you give up: the source is not public, and the free tier stops at ten habits. Pro is 25 € a year or 34,99 € once, which is more than zero. That is the trade, stated plainly.
The mercy mechanic is different too. Loop softens a miss through the strength score. miniHabits banks a shield every five consecutive days, up to three, and a missed day spends one so the chain holds while the log still shows what happened.

Migrating your data
Loop exports a CSV per habit and a full database file. The CSV is the easy path: each row is a date and a value, which is exactly what the miniHabits importer reads. Paste the contents in, one habit at a time.
If you no longer have the Android phone and all you kept were screenshots, paste those into any LLM with our migration prompt and it returns importable JSON. Export back out as CSV or JSON whenever you want.
FAQ
Is there any real Loop build for iPhone? No. Anything on the App Store using the name is a different app by a different developer.
Does miniHabits compute a strength score? Not in the same form. It shows completion rate, weekday bias and correlations, plus streaks with shields.
Can I use it without paying? Yes, up to ten habits with all five tracking modes, widgets, heatmaps and CSV export.
The honest recommendation
If you own an Android phone, install Loop and close this tab. It is free, it respects you, and the strength score is better thinking than most of what is sold.
If you are on iOS and you want the same absence of nonsense, miniHabits is built on the same instincts with a fuller data model and a price attached. Also worth a look: the HabitNow comparison if you are still deciding which phone to carry, and the Streaks comparison if design matters more than data.
