The 14 best habit tracker apps for iPhone in 2026 (tested, with the trade-offs)

Every entry lists what it does better than miniHabits. That is the part worth reading.

iphone 398 words of 4 200 planned

I installed all fourteen of these, moved a real habit list into each one, and used them for at least a week. Not a fortnight of dedicated testing for every app, but long enough to hit the thing that usually decides it: what happens on the day you miss.

The ranking is not a ranking of quality. Every app here is competent and several are better looking than mine. It is a ranking by fit, because the honest answer to “which habit tracker is best” is that it depends on what shape your habits are and what you do when a streak breaks. Someone tracking six yes-or-no habits wants a completely different app from someone logging pages, kilometres and timed work blocks.

So each entry says who it is for, what it does better than miniHabits, and where it stops. I build one of these, which is a conflict of interest, and the way I have tried to handle it is by writing the “does better” line first and making it specific. If you finish an entry without learning something real that another app does well, that entry has failed.

Prices are checked quarterly and the date of the last check is at the top of the table. Everything was tested on iOS 26 on an iPhone 15 Pro and an iPhone SE, because widget layouts behave differently on a small screen and most reviews only use the big one.

Outline

Status: outline. The introduction above is finished copy. Everything below is the section plan for the full draft, targeted at about 4 200 words.

  1. How I tested. Devices, duration, the habit set I moved into each app, and what I did not test.
  2. The quick table. Fourteen apps, price, streak behaviour, export format and best-for, on one screen.
  3. Pick by what you track. Four routes through the list depending on data shape.
  4. The fourteen entries. Each one: who it is for, what it does better, where it stops, and the price today.
  5. Streak rules compared. Hard reset, freeze, shield and none, across all fourteen.
  6. Export and lock-in. What you can get out of each, in what format.
  7. Where miniHabits loses. Watch, Android, and design polish, named against the apps that win on each.
  8. FAQ. The questions that come up under every version of this list.
